Demons
Does the word bring terror to mind? For some it does. True believers of Christ and Satan fear that if their soul is tainted, if they commit any sort of sin, Satan will send his demon’s to possess them and in doing so, be sent to hell. It’s terrifying to think you could be possessed by an evil spirit, that a foreign being is able to take your body over and do unspeakable things but, even more terrifying is the thought that one might spend eternities burning in hell for your sin. It is also believed that to rid a body of the evil inside is to exorcise it by bringing in a priest who can supposedly convince the evil presence to leave the body. But what if there are demons out in the world who aren’t evil, who walk amongst us, living normal lives. Do you think that’s possible?

In my Demon series, I’ve created a family of demons who want a normal life, who want to be rid of Satan. In Book one, Awaken the Demon, Draco Starr is a demon who has spent the better part of his life obeying his master, Satan. Having been released from Hell to collect souls for the devil, Draco did his duty, but after decades, he feels like something is missing in his life. He’s created a company and has massed millions of dollars yet something is still empty inside. When he learns of a child born from a Demon and human, he sets out to find her. Though mating with a human is taboo, Draco disobeys his master and pursues Missy Green. What he discovers is a love so strong that he is willing to sacrifice it all just to have her.

Draco, a once evil force in the world collecting souls, causing pain to others is now a mild man caught in love. But after several years together, both Draco and Missy discover they want more. They want a child.

Enter Aurora Starr.

Offer the Demon is book two and begins just after Aurora turns twenty-one. Because her mother was part human, her parents had to barter with Satan in order to have a child. Draco and Missy strike a deal with Satan and are granted a child. Only stipulation. She must gather souls when she turns twenty-one.

Aurora hates being a demon. Hates having been sheltered all her life. She wants more. She wants to live like the humans do. Only problem is, Satan won’t let her. Aurora is a stubborn woman and won’t take no for an answer and despite the wrath of Satan when she disobeys, she pursues a man who has caught her eye and she’s willing to sacrifice it all just to keep him.

Do I believe that every person, no matter how evil they are, can be redeemed? No. There are some souls that are so tainted they can’t be cleansed. Do I believe that Satan or demons have control over them? No. But it sure is fun to write about it, to imagine a world with demons roaming in search of lives to corrupt. That is the beauty of fiction.

What do you believe? I would love to hear what you have to say. One lucky commenter will win a free ecopy of Offer the Demon. Please leave your email address in your comment.

Blurb:
Twenty-one years ago a bargain was made for her existence. Twenty-one years ago was the beginning of the end.

Born to serve Satan, Aurora Starr wishes she could lead a normal life. Being a demon, that’s not so easy to do. By night she takes the lives of those Satan chooses. Despite her hatred for her job, she knows she must continue. All she wants is to live like a normal human.

Enter Scott Monroe.

Tall, blond, and gorgeous, he is more than Aurora can resist. Knowing that mating with a human is taboo, Aurora throws caution to the wind and begins seeing Scott. But when Satan makes her choose between her family or the man she loves, Aurora has had enough.

Excerpt:
“What are you?”

She sat back on the coffee table and began to explain. “My father is the direct descendant of Satan. He was born full demon. My mother was conceived by a demon and a witch. She is also part human. I’m a little of both.”

“Oh yeah, yeah, I see it now.” He laughed, uncontrollably.

“Oops, I forgot to tell you about the euphoria. You’ll feel a little high for a bit. Ever smoked weed?”

“No, no I haven’t, but I might consider it after this.” Bent over at the waist, he couldn’t stop laughing.

“No, you won’t. See, it’s almost over. I like your laugh, by the way. Very sexy.”

“This is crazy.” Pulling himself from the chair, he stood. His knees wobbled and he fell back down.

“Careful, you don’t have your sea legs yet.”

He ran a hand over his face. “I’m dreaming, hallucinating. None of this is real. It’s some insane nightmare or illusion.”

“I’m real, Scott. You aren’t dreaming, or hallucinating, and I am no illusion.” Taking his hand in hers, she pulled him closer and sank her lips into his. She took the kiss slow, making sure he could feel her, taste her, and know she wasn’t a figment of his imagination. “See, real.”

He leaned back, licked his lips. “How is this possible?”

She needed a smoke, desperately, and since she didn’t have any on her, her only recourse was to conjure one up. “Sorry, but I need this.” Snapping her fingers, the cigarette appeared in her fingers, smoldering.

“Oh Jesus, Jesus.” He laid his head on the back of the chair and closed his eyes.

“I’m sorry, really I am. Let me try to answer your question.” She stood, because walking helped her concentrate, helped with the nervousness she was feeling.

“There are all manner of things that people choose not to believe. That they ignore. Witches, demons, vampires—all walk the earth.”

“I’m trying to picture Glinda the Good Witch, but I keep seeing the bad one, you know, the Wicked Witch of the East, or was it West?” He shook his head. “Okay, let’s see, witches, demons, and vampires. Are we talking vampires as in I want to suck your blood?”

She smiled as she blew a cloud of smoke in the air. He did a great Slavic impression of Count Dracula. “Yes, well, not in the way people have portrayed them, but close enough.

You would be surprised how many walk amongst us, holding down normal jobs, living normal lives.”

“Oh yeah, sure. The woman at the grocery store, she’s got these fangs. I should have guessed.” He snickered lightly, shaking his head. “Is that what you are?”

He wasn’t really grasping it all, but she kept going on the off chance it would register soon. “No, though we do need blood to survive, as well as some raw meat. It’s been a long time since my kind has preyed on innocent humans for food.”
His eyes went wide. All the blood in his body seemed to drain from his face. “Oh God, do you have any idea how that sounds?”

“Sorry, I know it’s hard for you to grasp all of this and try to understand it all.”

“No, no, you don’t. You have no idea.”

She waved her smoke away. “I think I do, somewhat. See, I didn’t learn what I really was until I was six,” she began. “As a child, I was secluded from everyone, everything on the outside world, and kept in my home. My parents were afraid they would take me out and I would do something to give them away. You know, conjure up a toy they wouldn’t buy me, make someone do something, change things, cause a minor storm with my tantrums, and so on. When I turned six, and I made Hunter disappear, they sat me down and explained what was happening to me.”

She could still remember it all, the terror the disbelief. “They explained to me that because I was demon, I couldn’t attend normal schools, I couldn’t go out, and I couldn’t have friends unless they were people that knew of our kind. The older I got, the harder it was for me to keep to myself, but that’s neither here nor there. I’m veering off the topic.”

She took a deep breath. “The fact is when my parents first told me what I was, it terrified me. I couldn’t look in a mirror for fear of what I might see. And I didn’t believe them, not completely, until I experimented. It hit me like a brick to the stomach. Once I got over my terror, I learned to accept it.” And detest it with every breath.

He rubbed his fingers along his temples.

“Okay, okay, tell me again. What are you, and your parents?”

She sighed. “Demons. My father was born in Hell. He is the great-great-grandson of
Satan. My mother is part witch: half demon, half human.”
He ran a hand through his hair, staring at her. “Satan, as in the big ugly red guy with horns and a tail?”

She nearly laughed. He had no idea how wrong he was. “That’s only a depiction of what people have decided he looks like. Believe me when I say they are so far off. He isn’t red, and he doesn’t have horns and a tail. He is so much worse.”

“Okay, let me see if I’m getting this.” He stood now, his legs a little more stable. “Your father is a demon, a descendant of Satan, the big bad?”

“Yes.”

“Your mother is a witch? Part demon, part human?”

“Yes, she didn’t learn what she was until she was my age. It’s a long story. I won’t get into that right now.”

“Thank you. I’m not sure how much data this fuzzy brain can handle right now. Okay, dad’s full-fledged demon, mom is demon-witch-human, and that would make you…?”

He turned to her, his blue eyes a little glassy.

“Three-quarters demon, one-quarter human/witch.” She saw his mind working. “I wanted to tell you, Scott, but it was forbidden. Being together is forbidden. That was why I had to stop seeing you. It’s forbidden for a demon to mate with a human.”

Author Interview – Elise Hepner

Welcome! I am very happy to have Elise Hepner with me today on the blog. If you haven’t met her, she is funny and very sweet. According to her bio:

Elise Hepner lives with her spastic cat, two hyperactive ferrets and a very supportive, slightly crazy husband. There is never a dull moment in the house, unless the caffeine runs out, which it never does. She’s a multi-published erotica author in both e-books and print as well as a few websites. She’s driven by her tea addiction and a tiny stuffed turtle her husband picked up from Disney World that sits on her desk and “supervises” her work. She has let loose her storytelling addiction that has hung around since birth, along with a deep need for organization, which helps her write. When not writing (which is rare), she’s watching countless hours of reality television, playing the Sims or shopping online. Plus there’s that odd obsession with the color purple. Everything is purple. (I knew I loved you for a reason! LOL!) Visit Elise at her blog, A Willing Writer’s Blog: Erotica 1.0, to keep up with her naughty ramblings, random tidbits and future work.

She also recently launched her brand spankin’ new website and she’s on twitter. It’s all pretty and sparkly! Okay, on to the interview!

How long have you been writing?

Since I was 11, but, only professionally for about three years.

What genres do you write besides erotica?

Only erotica for now but I hope to broaden out to erotic romance as well

What inspired your main characters?

The idea of what could happen if one woman  was submerged in darkness with only her deepest, most sexual needs for company—and two playful, devious men.

Do you write to music? If so what was the sound track to Party Games?

I don’t normally write to music unless I’m stuck or in a bad mood. If it’s the latter than there’s nothing but Disney music coming out of my Ipod.

Where do you write?

In my basement office with my cat.

What are you currently reading?

The Internet is a Playground by David Thorne

What is your best guilty pleasure? (By best I mean worst.)

Any and all reality television, we’re talking Teen Mom, all the Housewives shows, reality show competitions, and, yes, even Audrina

What book do you wish you’d written?

Rebecca by Daphne De Maurier

You have to jump out of a plane w/ a holey parachute or edit your 100K MS by hand, what. do. you. do?

Edit my 100k MS by hand, without question. I’d rather live mentally unstable, (I’ve had lots of practice because all writers have to be slightly crazy to get into this profession) than die.

Bonus Round:

Coffee/Tea? Both, but tea mostly because I can’t deal with too much caffeine.

Cake/Cookies? Cake, always cake. But not Ice Cream Cake, yuck.

Coke/Pepsi? Mexican coke, but I try not to drink soda anymore :(

Heels/Flats? Platforms!

BDB/The Order? BDB, Qhway forever!

Vampires/Werewolves? Vamps…mmm…Spike

Cats/Dogs? Both!

Fly/Drive? Drive, it’s more pleasant, I don’t have to deal with it, and there’s no TSA

William’s boring lovemaking leaves Catherine unsatisfied. Harboring fantasies she can’t put into words, she longs for a sexual voice but finds herself too stifled by her proper social upbringing.

When a blackout hits their resort hotel and William proposes a sexy version of hide-and-seek, playtime takes on a whole new salacious meaning. Charlotte’s mind races with sexual scenarios. But even her fantasies fail to compare to the titillating adventure her husband has planned for her—with the help of another man.

Soon everything she knows about lust will be irreversibly changed—and she’ll moan for more.

Reader Advisory: Contains scorching-hot M/M/F sexual scenarios, a woman giving orders on an erotic high and slight trickery.

Excerpt
Her fingers trembled—should she risk giving into fear and walk out of the closet or wait for William? Without a doubt he’d planned this as a sexual hunt. A naughty bedroom game. But huddled among heirloom furs in her thin silk slip, she was already prey.“I’ve got you.”

She couldn’t mistake that wicked laugh. It was him. David, who had been a friend at galas she’d attended, but whose body she couldn’t help tracing with her gaze as he had made his way around the room. He was magnetic—and something she shouldn’t want. Which made her desire flare to life every time he had kissed her hand in formal greeting. Through her glove, his lips had been a seal of heat that had built underneath her flesh.

Until a sexual beast she hadn’t known she held inside roared to get out. Had it been fate that he had found her here? Or perhaps something more devious. Either way she couldn’t push back the relief that flooded her limbs at the sound of his voice.

At last, a voice she knew. One of the doors to her left unlatched and creaked, jerking back to reveal a lean, masculine figure against the weather’s cruel backdrop. One of his large hands groped her breast and tweaked the tender nipple. She muffled a groan between her clenched teeth. Goodness, this was wrong—but he moved in beside her and closed the door.

His fingers crept over her body against the slide of silk. He was gentle, but underneath her skin there was an elated tingle where he touched her, his caress stripping her mind of all logical thought. She wanted him everywhere at once. His heavy palms pressed and curved against her like he would memorize her form in the dark. He found her every reactive spot.

Against his eagerness she rose to the occasion. Their breaths came out in loud, tortured rasps. The roar of rolling thunder silenced their noises as the darkness shrouded them from reality. When his hand grasped her hip and he drew her in tight against his body, his cock against her stomach was a heated, pulsing barrier between them.

“I’ve always wanted you, from that insipid garden party until this moment.”

“Why?”

“You’re my ultimate conquest. My sweet as sin fantasy. I want to please you as only an illicit lover can please his lady.” He whispered against her cheek so she could only focus on the low rumble of his voice. “You need me.”

She wouldn’t deny it.

“Then take me.” She sought out his lips. The thrill of possible sin with another man made her flesh burn from his touch.

William must have his fair share of dalliances outside their marriage bed. What would be the harm in her having just this one? Her husband worked nights often. She knew what the sewing circles whispered. William had never made any motion to make her doubt the gossip. If anything, his actions only enforced the rumors because he would come home at night with different women’s perfumes on his skin and wrinkles in his untucked shirts.

Briefly, the thought of her husband in an affair stung until she buried it away. They didn’t know each other well enough, like other married couples, for her to waste so much time on her emotions. Their courtship had never been a match of love, but their marriage was one of business between families.

So it didn’t make sense to waste pain on the hypothetical. It wasn’t as if she could change things. Where would hurt get her in the end? She wouldn’t be any better for it, so it was best for her to lock it away.

But surely William didn’t care enough for her for this to hurt him? He’d never done much but scold, reprimand or mount her―that is, when they saw each other at all. William couldn’t deny her curiosity. Not when David might bring her to life again. She couldn’t resist when the timing was so right.

If anything, William should be pleased that she might finally have fun in the bedroom—or a closet. Maybe this would teach her to bring her own desires to her husband. Wouldn’t that be ironic?

It was no secret that it took two to make a marriage. In or out of the bedroom. Though she and her husband had intercourse—because that was the only clinical thing to call it—often enough Charlotte rarely knew the whimsical pull of truly earth-shattering sex. Yes, she couldn’t begin to know how to ask for what she wanted—but William would probably laugh and then deny her everything.

David, on the other hand—he wouldn’t give her a choice in the matter. A hard, hot flush crept up her cheeks. There would be no going back now. She straightened her shoulders and came to her decision.

David held her back for a moment with his strong hands on her shoulders. Was he rethinking this? Caught between a frown and anger tightening her chest, she let it all go when he drew close again. Each inch was a mile. His tongue traced her lips in a sensory sweep that left her weak-kneed and dizzy.

As an excuse for something to do with her hands, she groped until she could begin to unbutton his dress shirt. When his mouth crushed hers, she took pleasure in exploring his hot, muscled upper body. God, it was much naughtier without lights.

When had been the last time she used the word naughty in her vocabulary? Not since school. And then it wasn’t for anything as serious as breaking a commandment or committing a sin. But if she was going to hell for the way David possessed her—body and soul—it was all worth it.

Now her hands trembled for an entirely different reason. Undeterred by his fingers inching up her slip, she raised her arms and her final protection slithered to the floor. In preparation for her husband, she’d removed all other garments that would get in his way before she got into the closet. William never liked to take his time. But now she leaned into David’s touch and tightened her grip on his body.

Determined to go slow with her exploration of his flesh—even knowing time wasn’t a luxury they had because of the game winding throughout the old resort hotel—she cupped the sides of his face in her palms. Under her hands his jaw hardened, a brief protest that died on his lips. He turned until his soft mouth delicately kissed her palm, sending a fluttery jolt of desire to her abdomen. Beneath his fingers she flushed from the attention as he traced her curves in tingling, barely there circles. Her fingers caressed his high cheekbones as she relied on her heightened sense of touch.

When his face tightened in a smile, she found the irresistible dimples that showed up whenever he complimented her at parties. Her fingers traced up and over his forehead, normally creased with concentration, and through his short, mussed curls. She didn’t need light to know and appreciate the raven color and feathery texture under her hands. A crash of thunder outside the room’s windowpanes made her startle and his wicked, honey brown irises lit up. From the crack in the closed doors there was just enough illumination to catch a glimpse of his cupid-bow lips parted in pleasure. His hungry gaze locked on her nude body.

“I like when you look at me like that.”

“Like what?” He coaxed her onward.

“When I glimpse my attraction and what I’ve wanted to do to you all those long months dancing in your eyes. I’m glad we understand each other.” She sealed her words with a scorching kiss of tongue and teeth. But it was with reluctance that she pulled back from his eager hands. “But we can only do this once. This is my time to be selfish, but I can’t take the prolonged guilt that these engagements take out of a person.”

“I think you’ve read too many romance novels.”

“Please. I’m serious, David.”

“All right,” He let out a small exhalation before returning to his deft work over of her body. “I’ll make it good then, my very best for the lady.”

Satisfied, she sank gratefully into his touch.

SHOW A ZOMBIE SOME LOVE!

Today I would like to welcome Paige Tyler to the blog! I am very excited as she is my very first guest blogger and author here! So I hope everyone makes her feel welcome and of course checks out her new release later this week. :)

Thanks so much for letting me guest blog today!

Readers often ask me how I come up with ideas for my books, so I thought I’d give you a little behind-the-scenes peek at how I came up with my new release, a paranormal erotic romance from Ellora’s Cave called DEAD SEXY.

Before I say anything else though, isn’t that cover too hot for words?!  When the art department sent it to me, I probably gazed at it for a good ten minutes in mouth-drooling appreciation before I could email them back telling the artist it not only rocked, but totally fit the book.  The hero is ”Dead Sexy,” after all!

Okay, back to the story and how I came up with it.  First, to set the stage, I need to share a little something with you about myself.  Well, about my hubby and me, actually.  We love zombie movies, from the George Romero gems to Shaun of the Dead and everything in between, including “Walking Dead,” the new series on AMC.  You just can’t go wrong with  a movie full of walking dead people, can you?  Well, if you’ve ever seen a zombie movie (or even you haven’t), then you know the creatures aren’t the heroes of the film.  I mean, how can they be, right?  They’re all dead and decayed and downright unattractive, not to mention pretty damn scary.  Which was why you can imagine my surprise when my hubby suggested I write an erotic romance about a zombie hero.  I was like, you’re kidding, right?  What woman in her right mind would fall in love with a dead guy?  No way could that possibly work, or so I thought.

Turns out, my hubby wasn’t kidding.  In fact, he started working up ideas for the story.

“The hero didn’t have to be a zombie all the time,” he told me. ”Think outside the box – take a little literary license!”

Okay, I thought. I suppose I could be open minded.

My hubby told me that in his out-of-the-box world, the hunky hero got cursed by an evil Voodoo priestess and only turns into a zombie sometimes.

“I’m listening,” I said.

“And when he does go zombie, he doesn’t have to be like the kind in the movies,” my hubby added.  “Well, he has to look like one, you know all dead and stuff, but he doesn’t have to be a mindless creature or attack humans or eat anything gross.”

So, brains are completely out, thanks goodness!

“Think Jensen Ackles or Jared Padelecki, with a really, really, really dark tan - (yes, my hubby knows I’ve got a thing for the Supernatural hunks!) - well, maybe more gray and black than tan, but you get the idea.”

I thought about that for a minute.  “So, the hero’s dead, but he’s still sexy, is that what you’re saying?”

“Exactly,” he said, giving me a grin as my eyes lit up with understanding.

By that point, my hubby had pretty much sold me on the idea.  Of course, I knew if I ran with it, I was going to have to sell it to a publisher, and I knew that could be tough since the hero is a zombie. But I ran with it anyway and ended up with a full-length novel.  And it came out pretty damn good, if I do say so myself!  I still had to find a publisher for it, though.

About this same time, It just so happens that several of my other books were in the process of being picked up by Ellora’s Cave and I thought what the heck?  Why not pitch it to my editor there and see what she thinks?  So I did, and she told me to send it to her.  She was interested to see how I handled the whole zombie-thing.  Well, long story, short, she liked it.  A lot!  My zombie romance with it’s dead-sexy hero had a home!  I was thrilled and my hubby walked around for a week with a smug, “I-told-you-so” look on his face.

I’ve been getting the word out there about DEAD SEXY ever since I signed the contract for it and I’m thrilled with the interest from readers who can’t wait to get their hands on it!  I can’t wait for them to read it, too!

Now that I’ve revealed the story behind the story, I thought I’d share the blurb and an excerpt just to whet your appetite for more!

Blurb:

Romance author Simone Kent thinks she might just have found the most perfect guy in all of New York City – in bed and out. But Drake Parrish is about as far from perfect as any man can get. Eight years ago, he was cursed by an evil Voodoo priestess to live part of his life as a zombie. Since then, he has lived like a recluse on New York’s Upper East Side, afraid to go out for fear he’ll suddenly turn into one of the walking dead.

The sex if the hottest either of them has ever experienced and Simone discovers just how naughty she can be with Drake, while he finds himself feeling things for her that he hasn’t felt in a very long time. When the Voodoo priestess learns of their relationship, however, she comes after him again. She is determined to make sure he won’t have a future with Simone, even if that means killing both him and the woman he loves.

Excerpt:

As she led him up the steps to the second floor, Drake found himself wondering if she would ask him in. And wondering what he’d say if she did. When they came to a stop outside the door to her apartment, Simone turned to give him a smile.

“I had a great time tonight.”

“Me, too.”

She caught her bottom lip between her perfect white teeth and chewed on it thoughtfully as if unsure what she wanted to say next. It was probably an unconscious gesture, something she did whenever she was thinking, but to him, it was sexy as hell and all he could think about was kissing her.

Surely, one kiss couldn’t hurt. He desperately wanted to. He hadn’t kissed a woman in so long. It would be nice to see if he still remembered how.

Before he could stop himself, Drake tilted Simone’s face up to his and pressed his mouth to hers.

She tasted just as sweet and delicious as he thought she would. Her lips were soft and pliant under his as she kissed him back, her tongue eagerly seeking his out.

Drake groaned and slid his hand into her hair, deepening the kiss. Simone sighed into his mouth, running her hands up the front of his shirt to grasp his shoulders. The feel of her touch was like a tonic to his deprived soul and he let out another groan, deeper this time.

He ran his free hand up her side and around to her breast, cupping it through the soft material of her dress. He couldn’t stop himself and apparently, Simone didn’t want him to. She moaned and arched against him. He could feel the heat of her pussy through their clothes as she pressed up against his hard cock. Damn, she felt good.

Drake drew her bottom lip into his mouth and gently suckled on it before slowly kissing his way along the delicate curve of her jaw. Simone clutched his shoulders and tilted her head back. He eagerly trailed a path of hot kisses down her neck, then back up, his mouth finding hers again. Simone looped her arms around his neck, pulling him in even closer as their tongues met.

Down the hall, a door slammed, reminding him where they were.

Drake dragged his mouth away from hers, his breathing ragged as he tried to regain control. He had to get it together because he was about five seconds away from doing something really stupid. Like taking her to bed. “I should go.”

Her lips curved into a sexy, flirtatious smile. “Or you could stay.”

God, how he wanted to. But as much as he’d love to spend the rest of the night exploring every inch of her body, he couldn’t take the chance he might go zombie on her right in the middle of sex. Talk about coitus interruptus, And it had already been almost four days since he last turned, which meant he was already pushing his luck.

“You don’t know how much I want to,” he groaned. “But I can’t.”

Simone looked up at him with those big, blue eyes. “Why not?”

“Because I…” He hesitated, trying to come up with something that would sound believable. “I have a column due in the morning and I haven’t even started on it yet.” She knew all about deadlines, so she would understand that. Besides, he did have a column to write, it just wasn’t due until next week. “Rain check?”

She looked disappointed, but she smiled anyway. “Absolutely. How does coming over for dinner tomorrow night sound?”

It would be crazy to agree when he could be so close to having an episode, but he couldn’t say no. Not when she asked in that soft, sultry voice. “Sounds great.”

“Good. Be here at seven.”

“Seven it is.”

She pulled him down for another long, slow kiss on the mouth. “Don’t be late.”

His mouth twitched. “I won’t.” He bent his head to kiss her again, then groaned. “If I don’t go now, I’ll be here all night.”

Simone laughed. “Would that be such a bad thing?”

“Not to me, but my editor at Money Issues might not be too understanding when he doesn’t find my column sitting in his inbox tomorrow.”

She sighed. “Deadlines can be a real pain in the butt sometimes. Okay, go home and write your column. I’ll cuddle up with a bowl of ice cream instead.”

He chuckled. “Sounds better than taking a cold shower, which is what I’m going to be doing when I get home.” He closed his mouth over hers once more. “See you tomorrow night, beautiful.”

Resisting the urge to pull her into his arms again, Drake turned and walked down the hallway toward the stairwell. At the top of the steps, he glanced over his shoulder to see Simone standing where he’d left her, a sexy curve to her lips.

It took every ounce of strength he possessed not to go back and pin her against the door for one more long, lingering kiss. God, what he wouldn’t give to spend the night with her. Man, it was going to take more than a cold shower to get her out of his head.

A little about the excerpt I am posting. This is a new novella I’ve been working on, the 2nd in a series. It still needs to be polished and edited. The hero is a textile importer and the heroine is one of the girls from The Market, a Victorian brothel in London. This is where they first meet. He has no idea who she is.

Feel free to comment or critique, I am always open to dialogue about my writing.

A little about the excerpt I am posting. This is a novella I am drafting, a hot steampunk I will eventually finish. It’s simmering on the back burner for the moment. It is a spin on a Rapunzel tale.

A little about the excerpt I am posting. This is a new novella I just wrote (hopefully the first of three in a series). It still needs to be polished and edited, but I love the scenario. The hero and heroine are both customers of The Market, a Victorian brothel in London. It is the late 1880′s and Sir is a peer of the realm, while Kat is a young widow. Customers of The Market pay a lot of money to have their sexual fantasies and desires met in relative anonymity. They wear a leather half mask that allows them to indulge while hiding their identities to avoid those awkward social moments. Occasional partners, Sir has recently contracted with Kat to have her serve only his needs and this is their first encounter under their new arrangement.

Heath, or Sir as he was called at The Market, paced his chamber as though it were a cage at the zoo, and he a tiger. He was restless. Eager to claim his prize and deal with her little display of independence. He probably terrified the poor maid that had come to tell him the lady would be another ten minutes; but he was having none of her nonsense. He would get to the bottom of her little game right off the bat and correct any such silly notions she had of asserting herself in the future. That was not how this arrangement was going to play out.
Two taps on the hall door let him know Kat was ready. He took a deep breath, check the tie on his robe, and entered the room. There, just as he had envisioned, she lay on the bed. Restrained. Her body swathed in black and purple silks. Her arms raised over her head causing her breasts to lift and pull together, plumping them for him. Her nipples were erect, straining against the air. Her hair cascaded down her back and across the pillow behind her, a river of chocolate silk.  She was as beautiful in that moment as he had ever seen her.

He took a slow breath to steady himself. The tie of his robe released with a smooth tug, and easily joined her’s on the chair by the fire. The weight of her eyes rested on him as they followed his every move. Deliberately, he paused in profile, so she would know exactly what was coming. His throbbing erection jutted from his body in a near vertical position. Honestly, it had been a long time since he had been this turned on. Since he had allowed his need to control to rule him so completely. He approached the bed and stood over her.

He watched her stare at his cock and lick her lips in anticipation.

“Kat.” His voice came out husky, as though rusted from disuse. “Why is it you felt compelled to make me wait when you knew I was here and ready? This is not how we should be starting this arrangement.”

I- I wanted to know, to see what your reaction would be.” She met his eyes, hers teamed with desire, hope, submission, and perhaps even a tinge of fear. All healthy reactions, promising reactions.

“You will of course be punished,” he paused. “When I am ready.” Her eyes lit up with his pronouncement. Yes, Kat was exactly the woman he needed in his bed. She fit him, was a perfect foil for him. For his needs. For his emotions? No. He must be caught up in the moment.

“Yes, Sir.”

“Not when you are, and clearly you are.”

“Yes, Sir.”

He sat down next to her on the bed and began to caress the outer edge of one breast. “It was good of you to tell me the truth, Kat. You must always tell me the truth, just as I will always tell you the truth. Do you understand?”

“I will always be honest with you Sir.” The truth of her vow rang through her words and warmed him.

“Good. Now, I want to know what you have experienced or might like to experience within the confines of our arrangement.” his hand continued to stroke her breast, slowly moving toward the nipple.

“Spanking, but not flogging. I shouldn’t like that.” She glanced up at her wrists, “I think I like this. Yes, I like this quite a lot. I also like to watch, I would like for us to watch another couple…” She gasped and arched up when he took her nipple between two fingers and rolled it.

He groaned and then kissed her. His tongue plunged into her mouth, seeking. Ravaging. Claiming. He broke the kiss, lowered his mouth to her free nipple, and continued to roll the other between his fingers.  He bit gently on the distended nub and felt her skin ripple in response. Responsive. That was what she was. With a silent groan he left her nipples and moved down her body, crawling between her thighs. He parted her folds and watched as her juices continued to flow over her pink center. He wanted to bury his tongue in her. No, needed to. He had been craving her for days.
